4-draw brass telescope by
Spencer, Browning & Rust – circa 1825
The firm of Spencer, Browning & Rust was working in
London from1784 -1840.
This 4-draw instrument with its powerful
1 3/4”
lens is all brass with a mahogany body.
It measures 32" fully open
(including dust cap) and a very compact
9 1/2”
closed. It
is signed in script on the eyepiece draw, "Spencer,
Browning & Rust,
London." The eyepiece has a sliding dust shield.
The 1 3/4” front element has an original brass lens cap. The telescope has
an
excellent optical system in
original condition and comes with its original leather case.
It is in overall excellent condition with only
minor dings and a marks to the mahogany, and dates to circa 1825. Item 5034....................$1250 |
