| 3-draw
telescope by McAllister of Philadelphia - circa 1860's This portable sized three-draw telescope is signed in script, " W. Y. McAllister, Philadelphia", on the eyepiece draw. It is 5 7/8" long when closed, and 16 1/8" when fully extended. The lens is 1" in diameter. The diminutive telescope is very well made with a mahogany front, and lacquered brass trim. The lens cap, and sliding eyepiece cover are present. Condition is very fine with only a few blemishes in the wood, no dents in the brass, an indent on the edge of the eyepiece rim. The glass clear and bright producing a sharp image with good contrast. Overall, a very fine telescope in a smaller, portable size by an early American manufacturer. Item 5028 |
