Microscope oil lamp 19th century
A very fine paraffin microscope lamp signed on the base, "R. Davidson & Co, London W", and dating to the 19th century. The post is 14" tall. The height of the lamp is adjustable by sliding it up the post. The lamp has a condenser lens in front. Its distance and position in front of the flame is adjustable for focus. It can also swing out of the way. The lamp is in working order, and provides substantial illumination comparable to -- and even exceeding the light from modern electric bulb. The lamp is finished in oxidized brass, and comes in its own wooden case with brass carry handle and matching Davidson label. Both the lamp and case are in excellent operating condition. This lamp is fully functional, and ready to provide vintage style illumination for an antique microscope.
