Hartnack continental style microscope
A late 19th century microscope from one of the most respected makers. Script signature on the draw tube reads: "E. Hartnack & Co., Paris & Potsdam. The microscope measures 10 ½" in closed position. The eyepiece is number 3 (10x), and the lens is divisible yielding the equivalent of a 4x and 10x lens by modern nomenclature. The substage condenser wheel has click stops to control the light. The plano-concave mirror is excellent on the plane side but cloudy on the concave side. There is no case. Main focus is by draw tube adjustment, and fine focus is controlled by a knob on the top of the column. All controls work smoothly. The finish is polished brass.
