20th century globes styles
Globe base designs followed the dominant
art trends of the 20th century, but
often lasted for a decade or two longer. Strictly speaking, the
fluid Art Nouveau movement
ended around 1914 with the beginning of WWI, yet globe bases in this style
lingered into the 1930's when the simplicity of the Bauhaus style was
already under way.
