English Tellurium - circa 1800

The tellurium is 8" in diameter and made of brass with ivory balls for the earth and moon.  It sits on a mahogany base with paper dial. The instrument is in full working condition.  Turning the apparatus causes the earth to move around the sun and the moon to move around the earth.  The indicator dial in the front shows the seasons, date, and the location of the sun in the zodiac.  The indicator beneath the earth shows the phases of the moon.  The condition is excellent and operational with full detail on all dials.  All gears are original and functioning properly. The base appears to have had a later varnish applied for protection of the paper dial.
