Terrestrial Globe by Heyman – circa 1900

A  4” diameter miniature terrestrial globe made up of twelve chromolithographed paper gores and two polar calottes.  It stands 9" tall.  The equator is graduated in degrees, and the oceans showing currents.  Bulgaria is shown, St. Petersburg, and the Panama Canal not present -- all help date the globe to circa 1900.  The cartouche is signed, “Erd-Globus, 10 cent., N.d. neuesten Quehen entw, Leipzig, Ludw. Jul. Heyman.”  The globe is in fine condition with good varnish and color, with surface abrasions as shown and some rub wear to north polar calotte.  The stand is turned ebonized wood with a compass insert.  A fine example of a small turn of the century terrestrial globe.
