Terrestrial
Globe by Heyman circa 1900
A
4 diameter miniature
terrestrial globe made up of twelve chromolithographed paper gores
and
two polar calottes. It
stands 9" tall. The
equator is graduated in degrees, and the oceans showing currents.
Bulgaria is shown, St. Petersburg, and the Panama Canal not
present -- all help date the globe to circa 1900.
The cartouche is signed, Erd-Globus, 10 cent., N.d. neuesten
Quehen entw, Leipzig,
Ludw. Jul. Heyman. The globe is in fine condition with good varnish and color, with
surface abrasions as shown
and some rub wear to north polar calotte. The stand is turned ebonized wood with a compass insert.
