Hammond's globe - circa 1933

A stylish pre-WWII 12" globe with Art Deco or Machine Age base by Hammond's.  Bottom plate of the base is metal, upright is wood -- base painted black and silver -- with aluminum half meridian.  The globe is in fine overall condition with staining that can be seen in the photographs.  Cartouche reads, "Hammond's 12 inch terrestrial globe, principal steamship routes with distances in nautical miles, principal transcontinental railways, C. S. Hammond & Co., copyright, patent pending, Brooklyn".  Coloring is a warm and mellow green for the oceans and shades of ocher for the land masses.  The base is more silver than the photos indicate.  The soft tones and stark simplicity of design give the globe an elegant profile.
