Globe by Columbus Verlag  – circa 1934

A fine art deco style 10” diameter German terrestrial table globe by Columbus Verlag.  It stands 17" high, and shows Italian East Africa, and Persia, which would tend to date it to circa 1934.  The equatorial and median of Greenwich are graduated in degrees, the ocean showing currents and steamship routes.  The cartouche is signed, “Columbus, Volksglobus, BearBeittet Von C. Luther, Columbus-Verlag G.M.B.H., Berlin - Lichterfelde.”  The globe is in fine condition with good varnish, noting some overall knicks to the varnish and map paper missing around the south pole.  The stand is a deco style turned wood with a brass meridian.  The globe displays well with good color and detail.
