Compass in mahogany case

A very fine early compass in mahogany case with printed paper dial and decorative brass retaining ring.  The mahogany case is 1 7/8" square with triangular shaped brass hinges and brass clasp.  Probably early 19th century, the compass is in excellent condition and very decorative, in a rarer small size.
